In this video, Kelsey Bobian explains how you can easily make lipstick at home using crayons. At first, I was skeptical and thought that crayon lipstick might have negative health effects. Kelsey quickly dispelled my worries as she points out that crayons are made from paraffin wax and non-toxic pigments. In comparison to all the chemicals that are used to make most beauty products, crayons are a very safe alternative!
The other ingredient that really makes this crayon lipstick appealing is coconut oil. The crayons are melted into the coconut oil to give the lipstick a smooth, creamy texture that’s perfect for spreading. Even if lipstick isn’t really your thing, you could start using coconut oil as an alternative to store-bought lip moisturizers. A bottle of coconut oil generally sells for about ten dollars, but can be used for any number of purposes. It is not only a great moisturizer for your lips, but the rest of your skin and your hair as well. A tiny bit of coconut oil mixed into your conditioner can do wonders to bring a healthy, natural shine back to your hair.
We at SF Globe love seeing really clever life-hacks like this one that use such easy to find ingredients. Make sure to watch the video below to see Kelsey’s process for making the lipstick and to get a glimpse of what the end result looks like!
